I’ve noticed the abundance of Asian inspiration floating around lately, and I am loving it! Chinoiserie (a French term meaning “Chinese-esque” or “that which reflects Chinese artistic influence”) has been around forever but has more recently been given a trendy and modern update.Wallcoverings (often handpainted) are super hot right now and are a key element to accomplishing the chic chinoiserie look. All of the inspiration rooms I found for this post include amazing wallpapers with high impact!

Gorgeous photos. To me Chinoiserie has always had traditional connotations to it, but wow, that dining room with the orange chairs! POW! Nothing dowdy about that room. And the hanging lamps are amazing. They would totally fit in in a modern restaurant or bar. Love it!

Nancy I am dying!!! Love it all. That first picture is a look I would love in my entry hall. When looking around at murals I ran upon a great site that took me to look at Gracie and DeGournay papers. Way out of my budget range but oh how I wish!!! I thought about doing a post on them anyway. I am so glad you did one and all the elements you added are wonderful. Chinoiserie has definitely been a big part of interior design lately, from Chinese lattice everywhere to brightly painted bamboo chairs. My favorite has to be the foo dog though, as it looks like my Persian cat!
